Some people regard online dating as an insult to Cupid the god of love. A lot of people think that for some reason, online dating sites have replaced Cupid altogether. This idea, which many seem to follow, is due to the fact that people today are starting to hunt for love through their computers rather than wait for love to find them the traditional way.
That's not really surprising. The world changes and it changes big and fast. Before, love was all about Cupid striking that special arrow into your heart. A typical scene would be a man walking down the road and then he bumps into somebody walking in the opposite direction. In comes Cupid, with his trusty bow and arrow and two lovebirds are born.
Nowadays, it's different. Most everything has taken on a digital form. To find a date, all a woman has to do is log onto the internet, choose the criteria of the person she would like to date, and that person will magically materialize right in front of her computer screen. She instantly gains access to his name, e-mail address, and chat name. Sometimes, she even gets his number and street address. All she has left is to make some contact and she has gets a date tonight. Easy, isn't it?
Well even online dating has evolved. Before, dating sites were simply dating sites with enormous databases of people wanting to meet somebody. Now, online dating sites have niches and interracial dating sites are getting to be one most popular of all.
On these sites, a man or woman gets to date another who belongs to an entirely different race. It is through these sits that the black goes out with the white, the Asian pairs up with a Caucasian, and the Latino finds an Afro-American girlfriend. Before, ideas like these were inconceivable; however, thanks to these new interracial dating sites, people are beginning to open up to the idea that love occurs between people of all races and you don't have to stay within your own race to truly be happy.
One could say Cupid isn't really out of job after all. We will never know, but Cupid must have set up shop online because someway, somehow, love still fills the air.
